Bathrooms without barriers
Accessible bathrooms create comfort and safety hence in recent years, installation is becoming increasingly popular in public and private bathrooms. In a Trappist monastery in Chimay, Belgium: for visitors who want to share the peace of the monks for a while, a wing of the venerable building, known as the "hostel", is always open. The old bathrooms of this wing were in need of an urgent, complete renovation due to badly worn drains and pipes. The implementation of barrier-free showers was paramount despite the sensitive wooden floor. Thanks to wedi products, builders and tilers mastered this challenge. These products can not only be installed barrier-free, but also meet all building requirements: wedi subconstruction elements protect the wooden substrate whilst the carbon black design elements of the wedi Top Line used on wall and floor surfaces maintain the ambience of the monastery.
wedi walls for wet rooms: stable, reliable, safe
Each room has its own effect. The bathroom should, at best, be a place for rest, privacy and intimacy. Walls can have a significant role in this. As arule, they provide structure and separate the dry area from the wet area, for example. As a visual protection for the toilet or the shower, they increase the privacy and thus the comfort factor. Partition wall systems also convince functionally: whether as structures for fixing the shower door or attaching a wash basin to and/or incorporating a niche into, they fulfil their purpose in the bathroom. wedi's waterproof wall elements made of extruded polystyrene hard foam impress with their simple and fast assembly. Here's the highlight: direct bonding instead of building and/or mechanical fixing.
wedi becomes part of the ARDEX Group
Emsdetten, 21 September 2021. The Witten-based construction chemicals specialist is taking up a majority shareholding in wedi GmbH, a leading manufacturer of system solutions for high-quality wet room solutions based in Emsdetten – it is the largest acquisition in the company’s history. The employees of both family-run companies have already been informed of the development. Stephan Wedi and Fabian Rechlin will remain managing directors of wedi which will be an independent company within the Ardex Group.
Fundo shower elements: Reliable, versatile and easily installed
A floor-level shower is still at the top of the list of bathroom wishes for nearly a third of Germans, according to a survey by the Association of German Sanitary Industries (VDS). Functionality, reliability, quality and design are all important factors. wedi combines all these features in its range of Fundo shower elements. Whether with classic point or elegant linear drainage for tricky installation situations or with completely integrated drain technology: the enormous variety of the Fundo series offers individual possibilities to increase the wellness factor in the bathroom with a stylish floor-level shower.
wedi 610 – maximum security with minimal processing time
An adhesive sealant that holds everything together: the wedi 610 not only bonds wedi elements together reliably, it also provides a 100% secure seal. This means that specialist craftsmen can complete two work steps in one and save processing time when building modular bathroom and wellness concepts.
wedi Top Wall: now also in brilliant white
The wedi Top Line quickly took over the market as a preferred alternative to traditional tiling in bathroom areas. To answer market demand, the Emsdetten based system provider is rounding out its portfolio further – for aesthetic wall design in shower areas, Top Wall elements are now also available in Pure white in addition to the four existing colours. The white surface, in contrast to the Stone grey, Carbon black, Sahara beige and Concrete grey in a natural stone look, is completely homogeneous thus not only ideal to match modern sanitary ware but promotes hygiene and is particularly easy to maintain.
Fundo RioLigno – revolutionising wet rooms on timber floors
There are surfaces, such as wood, that are extremely vulnerable to moisture and thus to mould and fungi development. In such structures, the sealing of shower areas must be done with appropriate care allowing sufficient time for a precise and secure result in order to preserve the wooden structure beneath. The shower element itself must not exceed an outer edge thickness of 25 mm for an optimal flush-fit with existing floor boards. The wedi Fundo RioLigno shower element stands out precisely because of its extremely low installation height despite its attractive, close-to-wall channel drainage.
